Halkidiki
A peninsula in northern Greece is divided by three smaller peninsulas, locally called “legs”. Halkidiki with its amazing landscape, deep blue water, green pine trees, and well organized or laid back beaches, luxury or cozy accommodation, and the perfect culinary is your best bet for summer vacations. The wonder of Halkidiki is that there are always wonderful things to offer to any taste and all sorts of travelers. The beaches of the peninsula have long been locals’ most popular destination, but in recent years Europeans and tourists from all around the world discovered its magic and the close distance to Thessaloniki airport made it very easily accessible.
As said, Halkidiki is divided into three peninsulas, the first and second peninsulas are full of resorts and beaches for tourists but the third one, Athos only belongs to men of God and is a closed monastic community of Orthodox monks. To discover the numerous beaches of Halkidiki, you can get on a boat and go for an excursion to the first and second legs. To visit Mount Athos, you can only sail around it, taking a ferry or boat from Ouranoupolis.
